The moment you step on board a boat for the first time is exciting. And to ensure that your day at sea remains an unforgettable experience, here are a few tips, because if you're not used to renting a boat, you may miss things that can ruin your day.

As we mentioned in our previous article, first of all you have to have clear what is included and what is not included in the price: boat only, skipper, crew, fuel, towels, drinks, nautical toys, deposit... Don't hesitate and ask your agent, better to solve any doubt before setting sail than to have unpleasant surprises when boarding.

Apart from the price you have to take into account other aspects, such as the timetable of the charter (there are full-day charters, 8 hours, and half-day charters, 4 hours, but you can also customise them). The route is another of the star questions asked by clients. If you don't know the place, the best thing to do is to get advice from the skipper (if you have hired his services). If you are not going with a skipper and you want to be on the safe side, we recommend that at check-in you ask for information about a route. Once you know the route and the charter schedule, it is very important to calculate the return time. At sea, hours pass very quickly and sometimes customers lose their sense of time, which makes them arrive late for check-out and sometimes leads to unwanted fees, either because they arrive after the time stipulated with the agent or because they have not been able to refuel, and they are charged the corresponding supplement.

Another point to bear in mind is the weather conditions. Yes, it's true, your idea is to charter a boat in Ibiza and Formentera, where the weather is almost never bad in summer. You are right. But depending on the time of year, it can be cool at the times of departure and arrival in port and it is advisable to bring a windbreaker or some thin long-sleeved clothing. If you are the cautious type, we also recommend that you bring a change of clothes and shoes. You never know what might happen.

Where do we eat? Luckily, Ibiza and Formentera are known for their wide gastronomic variety. If you fancy eating on the boat, you can bring your own food (at Ibiza Blueline Charters we have a catering service, contact us) or it can be brought on board. If you prefer to eat on land, there are a number of restaurants that offer tender service, where you can be picked up from the boat and taken to the restaurant (i.e: Es Ministre, Juan y Andrea, Es Molí de Sal, Beso Beach…). However, don't wait to make your decision on the day of the charter, especially in high season.
